Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade

Prepare to let your hair down on what many call the most festive day of the year, Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. “Laissez les bon temps rouler” (let the good times roll) with the 8th annual Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade. Yell "throw me something mister" as unique and colorful floats, golf carts, and pick-up trucks roll down the streets and marchers dressed up in all their Mardi Gras best shower parade-goers with a barrage of beads, moon pies, and other trinkets. The post-parade celebration continues into the night with street performers, "throws" tossed from balconies on Main St, and parties at various Baytowne establishments. Snowbird Appreciation Sock Hop

The Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council hosts the 2nd Annual Snowbird Appreciation Sock Hop on Sunday, February 26th from 6-11pm at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. This blast from the past will include live music from The Tip Tops, dancing, timely trivia, soda shops, real classic cars and more! The Tip Tops are a high energy dance and show band based out of Mobile, AL, complete with a brass band, “The Toppettes” and costume changes make for an entertainment-packed evening of fun! Come shake, rattle, and roll with the great tunes of Elvis, Marvin Gaye, Little Richard, and The Supremes just to name a few! Tickets are on sale at the Emerald Coast Convention Center and are $8 in advance or $12 at the door. Destin Cobia Tournament
March 1 – April 30, 2012
The 15th Annual Destin Cobia Tournament presented by HarborWalk Marina is a month long event that attracts hundreds of anglers from Northwest Florida. With a nickname like, "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village," great fishing tournaments and Destin naturally go hand in hand. The tournament provides anglers with a great fishing experience and excellent payout. Last year more than $35,000 in cash and prizes were awarded. The tournament takes place at HarborWalk Marina in Destin, Florida, located on the Destin Harbor, minutes away from the intracoastal waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. The tournament is scheduled to begin with the first Cobia caught and weighed-in by a boat officially entered in the tournament and ends April 30, 2011. Bring your favorite chair and picnic or purchase dinner onsite prepared from Carrabba's Italian Grill or dessert from Marble Slab Creamery for an evening serenade under the stars. Admission is $5 donation per adult and kids under 12 are free. Free concert parking is located adjacent at Grace Lutheran Church.
